Thank you for the slide. May I know why Python is used in this research instead of other programming languages? Thank you for your question. Python is an open source and useful tool that can support various tasks. In our research lab, python is often used to parse, process and crawl data from the websites.

Author mention about the social network. However, it seems not mentioned in the presentation slides? Thank you for the question. The objective of social network is to verify the changes of the bitcoin flow network by social network indexes, such as density, diameter and centrality. The results of social network evaluation is demonstrated on the presentation slides of page 16 and 17.

Is the tracing and tracking now available for all virtual coins? Thank you for the question. I believe most of the virtual coins provide free APIs for downloading transaction records. However, there are some exceptions, such as Monero or Huobi, that are new and high degree of anonymity need to register and paid for further data parsing.

Thank you for your presentation. In this study, it is shown that the proposed rule can detect both clustered wallets and peripheral wallets. As detection technology develops, criminals' hidden skills will also increase. Is the rate of development of detection technology faster than that of criminals? In addition, even if a suspicious wallet is found within a blockchain network, it is impossible to specify the identity of a criminal by itself. As far as I know, it detects criminals through gaps such as the process of converting cryptocurrency into real currency, is there a technology that can specify the identity of criminals if they are cautious in this regard? Thank you for your question. Indeed, criminals may develop hidden skills to avoid detection, this makes current rules out of date and decrease detection rate. Therefore, one of our objectives is to discover the rules based on cryptocurrency transaction policy instead of human behaviors. Nonetheless, we are still trying to develop more efficient rules that can detect unknown patterns if we can collect more transaction records. As far as our knowledge, normal cryptocurrency users can’t trace to the identity by its address. However, most of the countries have laws that support law enforcement agencies to regulate exchanges to provide the identity of the user who commit serious crimes. And the requests must legally from the jurisdiction authorities.

One more question. Your thesis proposes a method for tracking and visualizing coin transaction changes based on exchange platforms as a way to prevent illegal transactions. You suggested a way to track and visualize the UTXO change of the Bitcoin wallet, how can you interpret the change in the parsing of the wallet transaction as a semantic analysis of whether it is an illegal transaction? And, the more illegal transactions are, the higher the possibility of conducting transactions in P2P by utilizing the secret of cryptocurrency. How can you ensure the rationality of the assumptions of the coin exchange platform implementation? Thank you again of your question. And you are right. In fact, as far as our knowledge, we can’t determine the transaction is whether legal or illegal only depend on the transaction patterns. The only way to confirm the financial crime of cryptocurrency is to investigate the identity of the address and other personal evidences which can merely accessible by law enforcement officers but not normal people. Therefore, the objective of our research is not identify the illegal transactions. The rules of this research is for eliminating change wallet which are usually noises in financial transaction analysis so as to facilitate the effectiveness of investigation. As the second question, we assume that the transaction records of cryptocurrency are public ledgers and can be accessible by internet users from exchange platform. The common cryptocurrencies, such as bitcoin, ethereum and litecoin are all conducted by P2P network. And the transaction records of these cryptocurrencies are all public and accessible by internet users. The anonymity principal of cryptocurrency is to ensure that the personal identity can’t be traced by addresses. Therefore, although the addresses and transaction records are public, there is still no way to obtain the identify from the public information. Of course, the two criminals can use unique cryptocurrency that only confirmed by both parties, however, this method will also affect the openness and fairness of the currency. Therefore, our assumption is still based on the fact that cryptocurrency must comply with the principle of openness in order to ensure currency value.

Great work. I think it would be of great help in criminal investigations if we could investigate the financial flow by specifying these rules as shown on slide 11. But what I'm curious about is Bitcoins's wallet address, not criminals what I've investigated in this paper. With regard to the anonymity, the pros and cons of the blockchain, is it possible to map the coin's wallet address to a ciminal? I don't think it can be mapped. Then I wonder what are the social benefits of identifying addresses. Are exchanges banning transactions involving suspicious addresses? Thank you for your question. I agree with you. As far as our knowledge, normal cryptocurrency users can’t trace to the identity by its address. Although exchanges are banning transactions involving suspicious address, however, most of the countries have laws that support law enforcement agencies to regulate exchanges to provide the identity of the user who commit serious crimes. And the requests must legally from the jurisdiction authorities.
