| the firmware update progress, at final stage still be an offline operation. The new image is downloaded, and install with reboot. What if IoT device is malicious installed with invalid version in the middle of the process, or it update failed but boot into malfunction version. Their appearance, then rejected by the blockchain, their represent function will be paused until technicans fix it, how can your system deal with this (like a bypass mode). |
Our firmware update service is specifically focused on ensuring the integrity during the distribution process of the firmware. IoT devices, after receiving a new firmware, verify the integrity of the firmware using information recorded on the blockchain before installation. By utilizing this method, we can prevent the installation of tampered firmware through verification before it is installed. |

| As mentioned in discusion, the power consumption problem.
IoT devices will directly implement blockchain clients and contact with the ledger net or they will register/communicate through a middle agent/edge core that handle blockchain ops? |
As you mentioned, currently, due to power consumption and performance concerns, IoT devices often prefer connecting to the blockchain through a middle gateway, rather than participating as full nodes. However, with advancements in device capabilities and ongoing research in lightweight blockchain protocols, we anticipate that in the near future, IoT devices will evolve to directly operate as blockchain nodes. This shift could empower IoT devices to take a more active role in blockchain operations while overcoming the existing challenges. |

| How the smart contract feature within the blockchain operation layer interacts with the IIoT services to ensure automated and secure transactions between devices in the Smart Factory Operation |
The current smart contract technology, as supported by platforms like Ethereum, requires all nodes to execute the same code. However, recent research is exploring enhancements to accommodate IoT environments more effectively. For instance, consider a scenario where multiple devices need to perform sequential operations. Using smart contracts, when the operation is triggered, Device A executes its task first and communicates the result using a transaction. Subsequently, Device B, guided by the contract code, proceeds to perform its task. This method leverages smart contracts for automating processes among IIoT devices, facilitating the seamless operation of various IIoT services. |

| Ask whether system immediacy issues have been considered |
Blockchain has difficulty in real-time processing because it needs to go through a consensus process. But, as consensus algorithms improve, the time it takes for transactions to be confirmed is getting shorter. So, the system immediacy issue you mentioned is expected to get better over time. |

| How does the proposed blockchain-based IIoT framework address the security, reliability, and operational challenges faced by traditional centralized smart factory systems? |
Blockchain's decentralization addresses the single point of failure issue, enhancing the reliability and availability of the entire system. Additionally, the integrity and transparency of blockchain help prevent manipulation of information within a smart factory, thereby increasing trustworthiness. In this way, the framework is believed to resolve issues present in traditional centralized smart factories. |
