| You say the core height of 210nm and the rib height of 70nm has a good compromise between FSR, FWHM and Q-factor, I am wondering in what specific applications, we need the compromise? |
In order to achieve a good performance of MRR, the MRR must exhibit the characteristics of wide FSR, low FWHM and high Q-factor. With high FSR, ultra-high effective index contrast can be achieved which results in very tight bends and thus compact rings are possible. So, core height of 210nm and rib height of 70 nm is a good compromise to get high FSR with high Q-factor at the same time as we want to achieve good FSR and Q-factor at the same time for good performance in application of MRR. |

| For Figure 6 and Figure 7, what result in the fluctuation of the transmission curve in the FSR region? |
Based on the results, it is observed that transmission resonance characteristics is wavelength dependent . This means that every wavelength have different resonance characteristics, that is the reason why we can see fluctuation.
From Figure 7, it is seen that there is no change in FSR as the height of buried oxide varied. This means at any dimensions of height of buried oxide, FSR will still remain the same. Whereas, for varied core height of rib, there will be effect on the impact of FSR as core width varied. |

| As far as I know, many researchers have simulated the characterization of micro ring resonator before, so what is the feature or difference of your simulation? |
In my simulation, I included all of the possible dimensions changes which include the width and height of the core/ring, height of rib and height of buried oxide in order to see the impact of the performance characteristics of MRR when there is a waveguide dimension variation. This analysis is crucial as it provides an initial reference point with regards to varying waveguide dimensions where future research designers can study and make fundamental decisions in designing effective and reliable photonic devices such as optical filter. The novelty of this paper is that the physical dimensions of the waveguide are altered which includes core width and height, rib height and buried oxide height whilst other researchers have only studied one or two dimensions. |
