| How have the continuous optimization strategies in Multi-Object Tracking (MOT) evolved in response to the development of object detection technologies, and what are the key findings and applications discussed in the analysis of the last three years' research in this context? |
Target detection technology, as the foundation of multi-object tracking, plays a crucial role in improvinging the tracking outcomes. In recent years, benefiting from the continuous advancements in target detection technology, multi-object tracking has experienced rapid development. We will analyze the optimization strategies and key findings in MOT separately from the perspectives of Tracking-by-Detection (TBD) and Joint Detection and Tracking (JDT) methodologies.
Firstly, for Tracking-by-Detection (TBD) approaches, the tracking methods heavily rely on the performance of detectors. A more powerful detector implies stronger tracking capabilities. TBD-based tracking methods combine different detectors, focusing on improving data association. Concurrently, leveraging the trend of deep learning, these methods continually optimize tracking strategies, further enhancing the performance of multi-object tracking. Over the past three years, studies such as MAT, ByteTrack, StrongSORT, C-BIou, BoT-SORT, OC-SORT, DEEP OC-SORT have been discussed. These investigations effectively utilize high-performance detectors to enhance the accuracy of target detection in tracking, optimizing feature extraction, and data association strategies to improve the efficiency and accuracy of trackers.
On the other hand, for Joint Detection and Tracking (JDT) approaches, this methodology integrates detection and tracking frameworks into an end-to-end model, collectively optimizing objectives to enhance the overall system performance. Over the past three years, studies including QDTrack, RelationTrack, CSTrackV2, AttTrack, FairMOT, CorrTracker, SGT, FineTrack have been examined. Embedding "target detection" and "target tracking" tasks into a shared model accelerates MOT and improves target tracking performance. Additionally, by balancing detection tasks and Re-ID tasks, optimizing tracking association strategies, and jointly training detection and tracking tasks, these approaches enhance multi-object tracking effectiveness.
In summary, in recent years, with the rapid development of target detection technology, multi-object tracking has seen continuous growth. Numerous research findings have emerged, with wide applications in fields such as Military, Motion Analysis, Medical Diagnosis, Autonomous Driving, Video Surveillance. The research in this domain holds significant importance and promising applications.

| What is the significance of the released MOT public datasets by universities, companies, and research teams in promoting the development of multi-objective tracking (MOT) and validating MOT schemes? |
The release of MOT (Multiple Object Tracking) public datasets by universities, companies, and research teams holds significant importance in fostering the development and validation of MOT solutions for several reasons:
Advancing Algorithmic Research and Comparison: Public datasets provide a standardized testing ground, enabling researchers to develop, test, and compare various MOT algorithms. The ability to benchmark algorithms on the same dataset allows for objective evaluations of performance, driving advancements in MOT technology.
Validating Algorithm Effectiveness: Public datasets serve as a means to validate the effectiveness and generalization capabilities of MOT algorithms. Researchers can train and test their algorithms on these datasets, assessing their performance using standard evaluation metrics to validate their utility in real-world scenarios.
Promoting Data Sharing and Open Science: The release of public datasets encourages the principles of data sharing and open science. Researchers can share the datasets they collect, facilitating broader usage for research purposes. This fosters a collaborative environment, accelerating the development of MOT technology while enhancing research transparency and reproducibility.
Driving Applications and Solving Real-world Problems: Public datasets aid researchers in developing more accurate and robust MOT algorithms, thereby driving the application of MOT technology in practical scenarios such as video surveillance, intelligent transportation, and more. This, in turn, contributes to improving societal aspects, enhancing safety, and increasing efficiency.
In summary, the release of MOT public datasets plays a crucial role in supporting and propelling the development and application of MOT technology. It accelerates research progress, promotes innovation, and addresses real-world challenges in a variety of domains.

| Good afternoon, I am the chair of Session 2B, Bing-Yuh Lu from China, and welcome you to ICACT2024. Your artwork reviewed the Detection-related Multiple Object Tracking in Recent Times. That is a nice work. We have some studies related to the object tracking using Microsoft COCO model. Would you please comment on the model by your experience of the reviews? Thank you! |
The Microsoft COCO (Common Objects in Context) dataset is widely used in computer vision tasks, offering detailed annotations for multiple objects in images, including object bounding boxes, category information, and instance segmentation masks. The rich annotation information provides valuable training data for target tracking tasks, aiding models in better understanding and distinguishing different targets. The dataset encompasses diverse scenes, featuring interactions among multiple objects, occlusions, and targets of varying sizes.
As a result, research on target tracking based on this dataset is representative in addressing challenging scenarios encountered in the real world, prompting researchers to propose more robust and efficient target tracking algorithms. An essential aspect of utilizing the Microsoft COCO dataset for target tracking research is the evaluation of algorithm performance. Testing on this large-scale and diverse dataset allows researchers to objectively compare the performance of different models and algorithms, driving advancements in the field.
In summary, the Microsoft COCO model plays a crucial role in target tracking research, providing researchers with a powerful tool to address target tracking challenges in complex real-world scenarios. However, researchers need to be mindful of the model's limitations and continually strive to enhance its performance in specific scenarios and complex conditions. |
