| How does game theory help in understanding voting behaviors?
What role do Monte Carlo methods play in modeling elections?
How can Monte Carlo simulations be used to predict election outcomes? |
We took base assumption for voter characteristics and ran simulations thousands (if not more) times seeing which patterns emerged and then matching them to various outcomes to explain current (and past) situations. The idea of testing many, many trials allows us to see which outcomes are more probable and which outcomes indeed came to fruition. If we were to gather more distinct assumptions with real world data, running these trials would show us which outcomes are more or less likely to occur and which strategies for candidates or voters optimizes their choice. |
