The ability to recognize and interpret human facial expressions represents one of the most fundamental aspects of human social interaction and emotional communication. Facial Expression Recognition (FER) is fundamental to affective computing and human-computer interaction, enabling systems to infer emotional states from facial cues. It takes images or videos as input and subsequently classifies expressions into one of seven basic and universal emotions: Anger, Disgust, Fear, Happiness, Neutral, Sadness, and Surprise. |
