Traditional classification tasks have a certain number of attributes with a certain range of values and a decision attribute that is a known outcome for each object. However, when there is a need to classify a dataset which also has a preferred order of attributes, classical rough set theory fails to consider the dominance relation. Dominance based rough set theory is an extension of rough set theory. Dominance based rough set theory performs classification tasks by considering the dominance relation of attributes instead of indiscernibility relations.
