The problem of secure aggregation has been an area of research with different approaches including works based on secret sharing, differential privacy, homomorphic encryption , etc. In recent years, a large number of secure aggregation protocols have been designed to provide strong privacy guarantees in FL. However, FL poses some unique challenges for secure aggregation protocols. The first one is Huge user size: up to 10,000 users can be selected to participate in the iteration. The second one is Higher communication costs: model updates may be high-dimensional vectors, e.g. ResNet models consist of hundreds of millions of parameters. The third one is User dropout: The client is a mobile device that can exit at any time. The exit rate can be up to 10%. The fourth one is Privacy: since malicious servers can launch powerful attacks through the use of sybils, it is crucial to provide the strongest possible privacy protection, in which the adversary simulates a large number of fake client devices.
