To improve scalability, sharding enables parallel transaction processing by dividing the network into independent shards. In urban computing, large-scale data are generated across domains like transportation, environment, and energy and, are often organized based on geographical regions. Because of these characteristics, urban computing environments are suitable for a sharding-based design.
