Widely utilized for SMS spam detection research, the SMS Spam Collection dataset used for this study came from Kaggle. There are 5,574 English SMS messages altogether, tagged as either "ham," (legal) or "spam." Two columns—"v1" for the label and "v2" for the SMS contents—represent every communication. The dataset combines messages coming from many sources: 425 spam messages extracted from the Grumbletext website, a UK-based forum where users report SMS spam; 3,450 legitimate messages from the NUS SMS Corpus, mostly contributed by students at the National University of Singapore; 450 legitimate messages sourced from Caroline Tag's PhD thesis; and 1,424 messages (1,002 legitimate and 322 spam) from the SMS Spam Corpus v.0.1 Big, previously used in academic research. Training and testing smishing detection algorithms can be based on this extensive collection of SMS data with dependability. |
