Acoustic analysis exploits wing-beat frequencies, which constitute highly discriminative signatures for identifying mosquito species as well as distinguishing sex. Unlike purely visual approaches, this modality remains effective even under visual occlusion or complete darkness, making it particularly suitable for low-light and nighttime environments. As a result, acoustic sensing provides essential robustness for vector detection in conditions where vision-based systems are prone to failure. | |
