Next, we conducted a facial expression recognition experiment to see if SCN can recognize facial expressions using masked images. Table 4 shows the results of the experiments with the SCN model as a recognizer using two datasets. For FERPlus, 87.5% of the face images were recognized without masks, and 75.2% were recognized after masking. In the case of RAF-DB, 87.2% of the face images were recognized without masks, and 78.9% were recognized after masking. So, conventional methods can achieve facial expression recognition even after mask-wearing. Moreover, the mask-wearing process lost accuracy of around ten percentage points, even in images where the lower half of the face is not visible. |
