	The only way to address these challenges is to build horizontal linkages alongside vertical ones—an approach known as Yokogushi in Japanese. Horizontal linkages is based on loose connections characterized by high diversity and heterogeneity, bringing together different values and different understandings of problems. Loose connections place value not on ˇ°thingsˇ± themselves, but on the connections between them.
