	Adaptive Client-Side Timer Estimation. A lightweight retransmission timeout (RTO) adaptation mechanism based on an exponentially weighted moving average (EWMA) of round-trip time (RTT) samples. RTT refers to the elapsed time between sending a confirmable (CON) request and receiving the corresponding ac？knowledgment (ACK) or response. The proposed adap？tation is inspired by the RTO computation in the Trans？mission Control Protocol (TCP) but optimized for the computational and memory constraints of CoAP end？ points operating in low-power, lossy loT networks.
