At a high level, UW-LFRR proceeds in three steps. It first constructs a purified local view by removing nodes that are known to be unreachable. It then applies a two-stage relay selection strategy: it tries to quickly graft traffic back onto the original shortest-path ˇ°backbone,ˇ± and only if that is impossible does it perform a constrained fallback search inside the affected region. Finally, it uses a first-packet paving mechanism so that temporary forwarding state can be installed rapidly in the data plane, without requiring control-plane participation.
