So what can help?
We see three relevant research directions.
One is blockchain or PKI-like trust anchors for ICN content authenticity.
Another is Decentralized Identifiers and Verifiable Credentials, which provide self-sovereign identity with cryptographic proofs.
The third is federated learning-based intrusion detection, which allows collaborative training without sharing raw data.
But there is an integration gap: many of these systems exist as overlays or generic security services. They do not directly feed trust or anomaly signals into identifier resolution, forwarding, and caching policies—which is exactly what NRS-based ICN requires.
That gap motivates our framework: integrate identity, trust evaluation, and federated learning tightly into the NRS-based ICN control loop. |
