The ring must be large enough to retain packets across the entire repair pipeline: cloning, loss detection, NACK return, readback, and retransmission. A simple guideline is to cover at least one segment BDP, R⋅Tseg, multiplied by a safety factor ¥á¡Ã1 to account for burst losses, control jitter, and overlap margin. In practice, the ring is provisioned in fixed slots, with slot size aligned to DDR burst width, so both writes and readbacks remain efficient.
