	Failure perception in UW-LFRR is fully passive and local. A node detects failures through missing ACKs or failure information carried in packet headers, and it maintains a dynamic failure set that accumulates both newly observed and previously known failures. Throughout this process, there is no need for probing packets and no need for broadcasting, which avoids additional control overhead on the acoustic channel.
