Repair efficiency depends strongly on NACK granularity. If the downstream sends a NACK per missing packet, the upstream may perform many small lookups and fragmented DDR reads. HPPC supports range NACKs, where a contiguous missing sequence interval is represented as one message. The upstream then performs bounded O(1) index lookups and coalesces adjacent address entries into long read windows, enabling aligned burst readbacks and improving both control overhead and DDR efficiency.
