In fog computing, the role of the cloud is to provide centralized management in the proposed system. It was not chosen as the primary computation unit due to high bandwidth requirements, security concerns, and potential latency issues while it can perform complex computations.
The role of the broker is to manage communication between devices in the network. The broker coordinates the distribution of tasks in the fog nodes to optimize performance and reduce latency while ensuring efficient resource allocation.
The role of the worker is to manage data processing tasks at the edge of the network. The worker handles ECG and EEG signal transmission and performs emotion recognition. That eliminates the need for data to be transmitted to the cloud, which minimizes latency and improves response times.
The role of the client is to generate and send data to the fog nodes for processing. Clients are typically end-user devices or sensors that collect data. For this study, the client device is responsible for sending ECG and EEG signals from the DREAMER dataset at a frequency of 32 Hz. |
