After a repair path is computed, it must take effect immediately. UW-LFRR uses a first-packet paving mechanism: the first packets affected by a failure carry a compact control triplet, and as they travel, they install the necessary temporary forwarding entries along the detour. After that, subsequent packets can bypass the damaged area transparently without carrying extra control information and without triggering further computation. | |
