These temporary entries are strictly local soft state, scoped to a destination and failure context, and each entry has a finite TTL so it expires automatically. When multiple failures occur, a node can keep multiple entries for the same destination under different failure contexts, and the entry with the largest remaining TTL always takes precedence, ensuring the most recent failure view overrides older paths. With local-only installation, bounded lifetimes, and a latest-first policy, the temporary state remains confined near the failure and naturally fades as normal routing converges. |
