The Network is a kind of special network that each node in this network serves as a router or ordinary host, and can join or leave the network freely. The first one is proactive gateway discovery, the gateway periodically broadcasts gateway message to all mobile nodes within transmission range of the gateway message. A mobile node receives the gateway message and creates a route to the gateway in its routing table if the node does not have a route to the gateway |

The second one is passive gateway discovery, when a mobile node has an Internet demand and there is no default route to the gateway in its routing table, the mobile node initiates the gateway discovery process by broadcasting gateway request to the multicast address of the gateway, and the intermediate node forwards the received gateway request information. |

The LB-AODV routing protocol [11] is a combination of AODV and the concept of Load-Balancing.
The dynamic gateway acts as an interface between MANET and the Internet [12]. the node registration includes two parts. The registration from gateway to agent is proactive, from node to gateway is passive.
The strategy [13] proposes a hybrid gateway selection index to achieve load balancing of internal or external traffic in mobile ad hoc network.
The solution based on radio load is proposed [14]. The radio load is a measure for how busy the medium around a node is. If the radio load is high, it indicates that the local node is transmitting a large amount of traffics.

This strategy [15] proposes a clustering method based on k-means. This method divides the network into k clusters, calculating gateway value in each cluster and selecting the maximum value as the cluster head.
this paper [16] uses an improved WLB-AODV routing protocol for communication, which is based on four parameters: hop count, aggregate interface queue length, aggregate routing table entry and latency parameter

This strategy [17] select a suitable gateway within the transmission range based on parameters such as gateway direction, received signal strength, distance, speed and data rate.
This paper [18] proposes two WMN load balancing algorithms based on the AODV routing protocol, named AODV average queue and AODV weighted average queue
This paper [19] proposes a new load-sensitive optimization gateway selection scheme, which mainly includes hop adjacency matrix, gateway selection, cluster formation and load-sensitive optimization.
This strategy [20] proposes a hybrid mobile ad hoc network gateway selection scheme based on bio-inspired. The scheme introduces the attractor selection model, which enables nodes to choose the appropriate gateway dynamically in a cooperative way.

In the end, review this paper, ten strategies for gateway load balancing were discussed, compared and analysed, which provide a good insight to the researchers. But There are still many problems to be studied. We believe that The gateway number in dynamic gateway environment, QOS guarantee and Communication security will be the focus of future internet research. |
