Introduction
Healthcare data security is a much-discussed topic nowadays.
A consistent approach to protecting patient information is needed to take care of the patient's privacy interests.
Medical data storage and sharing require security, privacy, and trust between organizations.
In some scenarios researchers and organizations are required to share data.
It is not possible to share data publicly with interested individuals.

Introduction
Medical data is sensitive and there are government regulations that prevent data sharing publicly. e.g HIPAA
Regulations create legal liability issues for imaging centers and research centers.
Blockchain is a decentralized technology that provides a secured distributed platform.
It prevents any unauthorized access to data.

Introduction
It is a highly suitable technology in case of data sharing between multiple parties.
At the same, these systems are cost-effective, and efficient, and require very less maintenance over a long time.
At the same time, blockchain stores a very small amount of data.
To store large data files, an IPFS file storage system is used.

Introduction
IPFS is a peer-to-peer file system that stores data within its network.
IPFS works as an add-on to blockchain for off-chain data storage.
By using the above-mentioned technology the proposed system can securely store and share data in a decentralized manner.

Proposed System
The system is developed using the Hyperledger Fabric framework.
The client application is developed using Angularjs
The NodesJs server is used to provide APIs between client applications, blockchain, and IPFS.
Initially, there is a consortium of three organizations.

Proposed System
Every organization registers its admin user with the network to interact.
Admin can upload, share and download the data.
The data can be deleted by only the owner organization.
The shared data access can be revoked at any time by the sharing organization.

Proposed System
To start the consortium, the blockchain operators set up the network and the initial configurations, create the users, and issue the credentials.
Network binaries, fabric peer, orderer, and certification authority are deployed on docker images.
Fabric peers are hosting ledger and chain codes.
Every peer is belonging to each hospital.

Proposed System
Fabric SDK is used to provide communication between the server and the blockchain.
Initially a channel name ¡°hospitalChannel¡± is created and joined by three member organizations.
The system is scalable, so new organizations can be added anytime.
Fabric support two types of databases, CouchDB and LevelDB.

Proposed System
CouchDB is used to store the world state
The LevelDB is used to store the transaction logs or blockchain.

System Workflow
The above diagram shows the process of uploading the medical data and record creation in the ledger.
First, the admin made the connection request from the client application to the server.
The server does the authentication of the admin user.
Upon successful authentication, the connection request is forwarded to the network through the SDK.

System Workflow
Upon receiving the request, the network checks the admin certs and establishes the connection.
After the connection, the admin uploads the data.
The data is uploaded to IPFS and a hash is returned which is the address of the data on the IPFS network.
Now the server forwards the transaction request to the network through the Fabric SDK along with the address hash and data owner information.
The chaincode named ¡°DataStore¡± is invoked, and the record is created into the ledger.

System Workflow
The admin can download any existing data with just a single click.
Admin requested downloading the data to the node server through REST API¡¯s.
The server authenticates the admin, and after successful authentication, the server looks for the requested data hash from the blockchain and looks for data from IPFS.
After accessing data it sends the data back to the client application in response.
The data access can be provided to other organizations, and they will follow the same procedure to download the data.

Conclusion
This study proposed a blockchain system using Hyperledger Fabric, IPFS, Nodejs, and AngularJs technologies.
Facilitates medical organizations and research institutes to share medical data in a trustless environment.
Ensures data privacy and availability with enhanced security.
Provides restricted access to data with verifiable credentials.
Blockchain makes the system transparent and retains data ownership.
Records every data transaction in the ledger for audit purposes.
Smart contracts play an important role in ensuring fair data distribution and enforcing rules.
